Go Ahead—Paddle Right Into Me!

As I was watching him paddle right into the line I was taking, I was thinking he wasn't stupid enough or kooky enough to do it. I was mistaken.

I was so mesmerized by his stupidity that I was too busy watching him to think about turning, walking to the nose, yelling or anything else.

That was setting up to be a nice, long wave. I was picking my line and was preparing to walk to the nose. Then I spotted him! It went downhill from there.

I think he assumed you were going to cut back into the pocket of the wave. I say this as from what the photos show you were heading into the flats / shoulder and in a place that would be ideal for a cutback.

That said, yes he probably should have paddled into the white water and avoided you entirely...

.02 worth

That's EXACTLY how that dickhead dinged my board last week. Rather than duckdive or turtle, he tried to go for teh shoulder and he hit me.

What's the old saying? Never "assume" because you make an "ass" of "u" and "me"?

hah. Nice job. That reminds me of when I was just starting to bike while recovering. I rode really slowly along a flat, mellow, resort town bike path. The whole time I was hyper-alert of my surroundings and yelled at anything and everything that got within a 25 foot radius...other bikers, hikers, dogs, birds. People looke at me funny, but at least they saw me. I couldn't crash. I would've been yelling at that kook for sure.
