Back in the day, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and people had to spin this weird dial seven times in order to make a phone call, this magical story-carrying apparatus was called a BOOK.
i've engaged in this argument constantly since i bought my kindle (which i love) here's the upsides.
1.) Instant gratification. Someone tells me about a book, i turn on the kindle, buy it, start reading.
2.) Paper waste - i email work documents and schedules to my kindle to go over at home or reference when i'm on vacation.
3.) Paper weight - hundreds of books @ 9 ounces.
4.) Cheaper books. Sure there's the overhead of purchasing the device, but i've past breaking even.
5.) And this is the serious stuff. I'm dyslexic. how tired I am or how long i've been staring at a screen or been under florescent lights affects the way my eyes and brain process information. The kindle (not the ipad) is a e-ink screen and very easy on my eyes. And I can adjust the text size to a comfortable, digestible size. I simply read more easily and faster with the kindle.
6.) fits into a zip-lock bag. Yes - for reading in the bath or shower
7. its a conversation starter? =D
i'm a big hold-out when it comes to technology. And i'm 29. Still don't have an iphone. Still shoot film on my nikon F4. I miss being able to scribble in the margins - but what can I say. I'm a little saddened to see the stack of books along the length my wall cease to grow. I guess what i'm saying is that i'm going to miss the book...
I cant help but love waking up surrounded by books....I'd rather wake up to a room filled with books, than a 'lover' any old day! A great book never gets old....but a 'lover'...? I'm just sayin....

I'm partial to analog as well.
There's also the Kindle, iPad, Sony Reader, and the Kobo!
I know!! And I just don't get it. How are they better than having and reading a real book? What is the point of these electronic readers?
