Mighty Mama Skate-O-Rama

Each of the women in this photo is both a skater and a mom. On Mother's Day, a bunch of skateboarding moms and chicks (without kids) convened to celebrate just how cool we all are. Jean, the mom doing the air, is over 40 and a mother of two.

Still think moms should be at home baking cookies?

Huge respect to all of you... Amazing to see such raw passion. I came to your blog through a link on Surfers forum. I was looking up whether or not you can still surf after a knee replacement. I only just turned 30 but my left knee(leading leg) has had it rough, I had two thirds of my lateral meniscus removed and as a consequence I now suffer crippling anterior knee pain. Its a desperate time. Your story's are inspiring and uplifting. They help a lot. So easy to neglect our incredible body's when we're young. Heck I'm only 30 and I feel like a bus hit me all of a sudden.I'll def be a frequent visitor from now on.
Best wishes from Scotland!
Duncan
ps you live in a magic place. I haven't gotten that far south but South Lake Tahoe was my home for 2 winters and San Francisco/Santa Cruz and the surrounding areas are perfect. I always heard gnarly things about Santa Cruz locals but we were shown nothing but welcome smiles and hospitality. Oh I miss the ocean!

Duncan, you will surf again. The knee replacement is your ticket back onto a surfboard. Find a surgeon who will do the surgery now. Any doctor who says you should wait is a doctor from whom you should run. It's about quality of life. You're young now. You need your knee to work now. No professional should tell you that you have to wait. You can't wait.

Keep me updated on your progress, please.
