Count Me Out

This just in from our local surf reporting site:

*We are excited to announce that beginning January 1st we will be shifting into a premium business model. Before you start cringing and complaining take a look at our offer and sign up. We promise to deliver the goods and are counting on your support!

I think not.

I don't think I'll pay up either. My surfing schedule forces me to have my destination(s) figured out the night before. I prefer Surfline's tools for that.

Although I like the pictures Swellmagnet's reporters post in the morning, I'd already be in the water and sometimes finished with my session as they're posted. I strictly use Swellmagnet to see how it was. I can get that info from a dozen different places.

Yeah, I use it for the same thing. Past tense. I don't see how they can justify having people pay if they can't provide up-to-the-minute reports. At least Surfline can tell you what the waves are like at the moment you visit the site (whether you pay or not).

We're talking about SwellMagnet.com. Their surf reports satisfactory at best. I like the site because it's somewhat helpful. It was better when Uncle Grant was there. I find it interesting that they think their reports are good enough to prompt anyone to pay for their service.
