You can pretty much mat wherever you want. It's apparently frowned upon in L.A. County, but it's been years since a lifeguard tried to put me out of the water while I was on my mat. The one spot where you cannot ride a mat is Malibu (and, yet, there are those intrepid mat riders who find a way to do it nonetheless).
There are some spots that are better than others for riding mats.
When you come next year, bring your mats and your fins!!
I'll bring my mats and fins! We start in San Fransisco to drive along the coast to San Diego. So i hope to catch a few waves every day! Are their particular matspots? Can't wait and counting the days already!
